Physicists, chemists, doctors and pharmacists have come together to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic methods using nanotechnology. These techniques, which are located at scales of about one billionth of a meter, allow us to intervene at the level of the cells themselves, a promising prospect for the treatment of cancers and certain rare diseases. The team is particularly interested in liver cancer. It uses carbon nanotubes and lipid nanoparticles to better target both diagnosis and care. The idea is to equip these nanostructures with functions that allow them to locate diseased cells, to make them more visible to imaging, but also to penetrate inside to destroy them or to deliver drugs.
